Welcome to my blog about fatherhood! You may be wondering, “who is this dude, and what does he have to offer?” Great question! Please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kerry. I’m divorced, and I have 2 young boys, currently ages 5 and 3.
Though fatherhood for me began only 5 years ago, I wanted a place for soon-to-be dads and current dads to read about my experiences, thoughts, and emotions about being a dad. Don’t get me wrong, fatherhood is rewarding, but it can also come with some emotional upheaval and struggles… and I am here to tell you: IT IS NORMAL!
Fatherhood is a tremendous blessing. It’s a feeling of happiness that is hard to explain. Knowing that a little human depends on you, literally with their very life, creates a new unimaginable purpose. You won’t know it until you live it, but you will do nothing short of laying your life on the line to provide for this tiny life. Their happiness somehow becomes your number one priority. Once you see them smile for the first time, nothing else matters.
As a parent, we sometimes forget that we need to take care of ourselves as well. Our physical, emotional, and mental health should never be overlooked. How are we supposed to care for another life if we don’t care for our own? This, unfortunately, is something I have been guilty of.
I have many stories and experiences to share, and they will come in due time. I’m hoping my experiences can create some open conversation and realizations that we, as dads, aren’t alone! I am here, with open arms and with no judgement, and I hope my struggles will help you with yours.
I will never tell anyone how to live their lives or how to parent. This is simply a forum to share the pains and struggles I have experienced. We need to rise up and support each other through the good times and the bad.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I hope I can bring some good to your journey through fatherhood. Please feel free to comment and share my content so I can reach as many dads as possible.
